1.) Why did DHF contact Dragil?
My name is Bruce Boyer. I am the chief business development officer for the Dental Health Foundation, a non-profit located in Oakland, California.
In 2007, we began a 2-county pilot program to deliver preventive dental services to underprivileged children. These services include oral health screening and evaluation, the application of fluoride varnish and dental sealants and case management of children into restorative dental care. We required a database utility to help administer the delivery of services and allow us to evaluate and improve our intervention strategy.
We wanted a sophisticated tool that was easy to deploy and understandable by our intended users, public health workers and dental service providers.
Our vision was to create a tool that could be used by other oral public health programs across the nation.
2.) Why did DHF choose Dragil?
I sought a web development company for the project. I wanted a medium-to-small sized firm that would give us access to experienced developers and the attention of a project manager who could understand our requirements and build the tool we envisioned.
I selected a local firm based in San Francisco. As the first prototype was finished, the project manager decided to leave that firm and start his own company. I thought quite highly of him and decided to follow him to his new company and become a customer.
3.) What was DHF’s experience with Dragil?
Under Dragil and using the existing prototype as a foundation, the project manager and I met several times to develop a solid specification for a database that would meet our grander vision.
We created a beta version and as new information was discovered in its deployment, we were able to make changes easily and enhance the product.
The balance of good preliminary specification work and iterative development process was just what we needed.
4.) Why does DHF recommend Dragil?
Good design doesn’t just happen. It requires the developer to become intimately familiar with the application. Dragil was able to do just that. They took the time to listen to me, gained an in-depth understanding of our requirements and translated that into a solid design.
I am very happy with Dragil as my web development company and can heartily recommend them.

How should I approach web design?
Suppose want to develop PHP websites and already have a good programming background. How can I make sites *look* good?
Do you recommend a tool? Should I use an Adobe product to design the front-end's view?
I need to be able to quickly design good-looking, php-driven sites.
BlueBoden, I'm pretty sure the guy knows what php does, he pretty said he was good at it. He just wants to know how to make professional looking templates.
I know how you feel (i am the same way). I am good at programming and coding but as far as graphics go, i couldn't make a nice looking image to save my life! Luckily for me, I have a talented sister for graphics design. I can suggest what she uses though. Adobe products are amazing for graphics design and templates. Try to get Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator and play around with them until you start to get a good feel for it. Photoshop is raster imaging and illustrator is vector imaging. they both have their advantages over each other but just play around with them to see what fits you.

They are origional edited videos and they take up virtually all of my memory. I need to know how to compress them so they dont take up so much space, I also want to put them on quicktime or some other program where I can publish them to the web.
If you want to edit them first and then you want to compress them then the best way is to use Adobe Premiere and as you didn't mention the original format of the videos so i assume that they are in avi format or in dvd format ( as normally both of these are quite bulky format) incase it is a dvd format then you have to remember that compressing them further ot vcd standard or mpeg-2 standard will decrease the pic quality too,
thus just use adobe premiere, you should also use Main concept mpeg encoder plugin for adobe premiere so that you will be having a wide array of formats in which you can compress the videos after editing , and if so you don't want to edit the pics then you can just use the Main concept Mpeg encoder , or TMpeg encoder both are equally effective and well respectable in encoding giving you the huge choices of the compression formats, hope that your question has been little bit answered
