Web Design Planning Tool?
Author: admin
Is there any software or tools that would assist in web design? I’d like a way to easily plan out the steps I need to take in order to finish my web site. Currently I have no system of planning and am feeling a bit overwhelmed. Are there any tools to make the planning process easier? Thanks!

Hello,
I would like to add a drawing feature to my web site where people can create network diagrams, plot points on a map etc. Can anyone suggest any Web Based Drawing/Design tools that I could use that are free?
Thanks
Hi i have looked at gliffy but it requires a licence(you have to pay) and it is also hosted on their own site. That sumo looks interesting but i am looking for something aimed at more technical diagrams than painting. Thanks
Hello,
I heard about this interesting one : http://www.gliffy.com/
But i never tried it as we use Visio in my company.
Cheers
I am about to create a clan website and i need my site to have a very good web design tool
It is for COD4
I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/
Powweb is on a 50% sale - $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.
Godaddy doesn’t offer a free domain, but you can get one for $2.19 if you’re buying hosting from them, plus they also have a 20% sale at the moment.
Where can I design for my own web site?

What web sites do provide you with the tools for designing your own web site for free?
The easiest way for a novice to build a web site is to start with a web template. Web Templates can be customized and you can use the layout but swap the graphics etc…. this will get you comfortable with basic HTML design and an HTML editor (like Dreamweaver).
Here are some resources for free or inexpensive templates that are easy to edit and manage.
Webmaster Templates - http://www.webmaster-templates.net
Free Web Templates - http://www.freewebtemplates.com/
Web Design Elements - http://www.webdesign-elements.com
Free Website Templates - http://www.freewebsitetemplates.com/
Free Layouts - http://www.freelayouts.com/
Free Templates Online - http://www.freetemplatesonline.com
HTML website templates can significantly ease the burden of designing and creating websites by providing webmasters with a ready-made web layout, structure, basic graphics, and color scheme.
The templates can generally be edited and customized with any HTML editor. The biggest advantage for webmasters using ready-made templates is the amount of time that can be saved.
How can I go from print design to web design?
Author: admin
I have worked for 2-3 years solely as a print designer (postcards, business cards, brochures, flyers) — but I want to expand my skill base as a graphic designer by learning how to do web design (it also happens to pay much more handsomely). I can make graphics and pictures for a website fairly easily, but when it comes to the tools and coding needing to actually create a site, I’m a bit lost. What tools/lessons are there that I should use? (If you can please suggest free/open source programs)
you can start with a basic one like doing it in frontpage or dreamweaver then later on you can do further more study in css code there are online tutorial for doing the css code. frontpage are easy for the beginners.
I’m interested in taking some online web classes, hopefully to earn a certificate in web development. I have a BS in computers and a masters degree and have programmed using HTML, CSS, and some Javascript. I am looking for an accredited program that offers professional level courses in web development using the latest tools. Any recommendations?
As I know, this site has top listing of such college courses online - schools.iblogger.org
Hi! I don’t know what kind of website you’re trying to build but you can download some templates and modify them with your info…
Check this site:
http://www.freelayouts.com/
You can create a free website on:
http://www.myspace.com
http://www.geocities.com
Or learn how to use Dreamweaver… it’s a great software, but you’ll have to learn a little bit more about websites… ;o)
I’m considering opening up a small web design shop as a side business within the next year or so, mainly focusing on small businesses and non-profits. I’m curious to know if there is a still a healthy market for site design, considering many small businesses are now using self-publishing platforms like WordPress and other tools. Thanks!
Baristo,
There are a a lot of challenges associated with the starting a small web design shop - (especially targeting small business!) My experience with design work for small business is that they expect a lot for their money, and they don’t always understand that the time it takes for you to explain something to them and help them understand the web is time that you need to be making money.
The nonprofit industry on the other hand can be quite lively and it is not unusual for large nonprofits to need design work regularly. Doing work for an established nonprofit that has a marketing budget is a completely different story. Of course, to get that kind of work requires a lot of work because you have to prove to them that you can deliver. We respond to RFPs from nonprofits all the time and sometimes it takes 10 - 12 hours just to complete the proposal.
The answer to your question is really yes, there is plenty of need for design despite people using self publishing and templates.
But more importantly, the business can be very tough and you need to be well networked and have processes that work. (Including your business development process!)
For the networking you might want to start at NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Community

With regard to the processes I would highly highly recommend reading the E-Myth Revisited

i need help making a website i have no clue what to do and if you can give me a link to a good website builder and hosting that would be great
Start with:
http://www.tutorialtastic.co.uk/tutorial/basic_html_your_first_web_page
Follow with:
http://www.tutorialtastic.co.uk/tutorial/three_column_css_tableless_layout
And then just look around the site for more specialized tutorials. They’re mostly beginner level, so you don’t need to have any previous coding knowledge.
I’m looking for software that has more bang for the buck. I need web design software that has the following; 1) Search Engine Optimization 2) Database Shopping Cart 3) Import/Export databases 4) Web Storefront Software tools 5) Retail, Wholesale at once. Please let me know? Thanks!
There is none.
All you need is notepad.
SEO needs no special software - in fact, if you do try to automate it any, you may find yourself banned from search engines.
For the rest, there are individual software packages.
And you need knowledge. If there were such software available, you would still need to know what you’re doing.
