You shouldn’t use the free webpage sites. I’d recommend buying a cheap one.

Check out sites such as http://www.getawebpage.net

They recommend web page hosting companies and usually offer a lower price.

Go get your domain name through http://www.godaddy.com they are inexpensive and good. You can pay with PayPal with GoDaddy.

You can use Comcast for your host, but, you may want to seek other alternatives that are more stable and have more uptime like:

http://www.mediatemple.net - Media Temple
http://www.eleven2.com - Eleven2 (my host, excellent host indeed)
http://www.dreamhost.com - Dreamhost

Easiest program to build a page with is Dreamweaver if you’re using a WYSIWYG. If you know how to code, get EditPlus http://www.editplus.com

You will need to have a merchant account and payment gateway so people can buy items with a credit card, or a shopping cart software like Zen Cart or osCommerce.

What kind of business? Will you be selling products? How many? Will you be taking payments on the web? You can get a domain name for about 2 or 3 dollars on Yahoo. http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains/ You can also get a cheap web-site on Yahoo. You will need to pay for hosting. There are a thousand companies selling DVDs. Before you purchase any product make sure you know your competion. Also, your domain should be the name of your store. It’s very expense to advertise on Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavist, Dogpile, Hot bot, Webcrawler, Alltheweb,etc.

I don’t recommend free hosting. it’s very unreliable, you don’t have your own address, like http://www.something.com or http://www.something.in and it looks very amateurish to anyone who visits your site.

If you’re from India I recommend http://www.hosttell.com/one They are one of the leading European hosting companies, and they currently have a promotion in India. They are offering free hosting and a domain (I think you have to pay about €10 setup fee and that’s it). Every plan includes Photo Gallery, WebEditor, Google Adwords coupon (so you can advertise your website on google for free) and a lot more. This way you will have a real website with a real domain name. Check them out.

P.S. They are running this promotion in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and India so if you’re from one of these countries you can get really cheap web hosting.
